Note to readers (who don’t understand hindi): You may use google translate if you wish to have a hearty laugh. I attempted to translate on my own, so as to avoid the havoc GT causes to hindi texts. 🙂

सामने है चाँद और अँधेरा  ताक  रहे हो?                Have moon in front, and staring at the darkness?

जन्नत सी हकीकत में रह के सपने बुन  रहे हो?       Live in heaven, and dreaming of another place?

 जेबें हैं भरी फिर भी  खाली  बटुआ टटोल रहे हो?    Have pockets full, yet fumbling in an empty wallet?

कब तक ढूंढोगे रोने के बहाने  . . .?               For how long would you, search excuses for feeling sad?

इतना भी क्या प्यार है गम से . . . ?                     Such love for sadness, do you have?

एक ही ज़िन्दगी मिलती है दोस्त                          Only one life is all you have, my friend

गिन लो खुशियाँ , संजो लो आंसू                           Count the joys, keep the tears

रखो संभल के कदम                                           If you still jumble and mess,

रास्ता  भटक गए अगर                                       stones with gems, and pearls with pebbles,

तो फिर से नहीं मिलेगी ज़िन्दगी !!                        If you lose the track again,

                                                                      you wouldn’t get another life

                                                                      to set it right again!!

7 things about myself:

This is hard as I already have a lot of bullets on About me page. But let’s see.

I am grateful for this amazing life. Music often brings me goosebumps. I learn big lessons from small things, but keep forgetting them and remembering them again. I love to talk. People find me funny. My parents mean the world to me. I feel like the luckiest daughter to ever exist in the universe. I have watched a movie alone once. There I said it.

Thank you readers.

This is a creation from a couple of seconds. Acknowledge my gratitude and don’t be a critic please. 😀 This is for all of you. 🙂

Without you,

the words are a string of meaningless alphabets.

Without you,

this blog is just an empty space,

a point in the space.

Without you,

I am a closed bottle

dying of suffocation.

Without you,

I am a heap of unanswered questions

and unshared answers.

Without you,

art is waste

Without you,

I am a dessert with no taste.

Thank you!!

22 Lessons – often forgotten!

It is important to not only learn, but also remember the lessons we learn. Also it’s important to accept the phase of forgetfulness (as it will come often)and to trust that change is the life of life. It is not that we don’t know what needs to be remembered. But, we often forget the lessons. This is a list of few lessons I have learnt, I write them in the hope of remembering them often.

1. Live Life.

We are not eternal people! Live the life you have got. Do not depend on near death experiences to realise its impermanence.

2. Intuition- pay attention to it.

Listen to the inner voice. It will always guide you.

3. Smile – because you want to!

You don’t need a special occasion to just feel happy. If you want to be happy, be!

4. Health – an asset which is the most neglected.

Take care of your body. It is important, very important to take care of what you reside in!

5. Stretch your minds, Explore.

There is an ocean of art and knowledge that exists. Learn as much as you can and enjoy.

Make this life more productive with  experiences that you really enjoy.

6. Do something for others.

It really feels great to do something for others.

Feeding a hungry stray dog and loving it can make you feel just great.

7. Be kind to people. Talk lovingly to them.

You are making their world  much better by being kind to them.

8. Independence.

Take responsibility of yourself and everything about your life. Do everything you need, all by yourself, without expecting much from others.

9. Intent.

Focus on people’s intentions more than their actions.

There is always a reason behind what they do.

10. Apply 9 to yourself too.

Have a positive self image.

11 Be grateful for what you have, always be.

Have a nice sleep every night and begin your day with a nice smile.

12. Believe in the power of your potential.

Believe that you are capable and expect great outcomes from yourself.

13. People are different from you.

Imagine people as the tiger from the movie The life of pi.

Even if they are not tigers, they possibly can be as different as it was in the movie.

14. Realise the impermanence of people.

When you find yourself in a challenging situation, or when you want to have positive feelings

for a person, only remind yourself that he is not eternal too. Remember the good things about people.

There will always be some.

15. Do good to everyone, yes everyone.

You do good, and it will come back to you. The reverse is true too!

16. Do what you love.

It’s a gift to have something that you love doing.

17. Give space.

Give people the chance to get close to you too.

Give them space. Your focus can be different from theirs.

18. Pray for everyone. Trust.

Dream of a better world.

19. Remember this quote:

“I’ve been popular and unpopular successful and unsuccessful loved and loathed and I know how meaningless it all is. Therefore I feel free to take whatever risks I want.”- Madonna

20. When life challenges you, know that life is more important than the challenges, and you already have it with you.

21. Focus on improving yourself.

22. Live in the present.

Thats all I remember for now. 🙂

A pleasant surprise

There is something special about every new day. Each day brings with it an element that makes it unique and special. But it’s a challenge to have the keen eyes to acknowledge such element, and a wise mind to appreciate it. But sometimes, it is really simple to spot its presence. Today has been one of such days for me. No, I didn’t win a lottery ticket. I didn’t get freshly pressed either. And today is not my birthday. 🙂

Nevertheless I found a pleasant surprise for me. While I was enjoying the mild winters in the evening, lost in my work; there, I heard something. Not an unexpected phone call. Not my favorite song. It was the sound of rains instead!  Yes, I do love rains to this extent. Rain and winters to me are like having coffee and sandwiches. I love them both, but I love them even more when they are together! How I wish, it was as easy to have this combination as it is to grab sandwiches and a coffee mug. 🙂

I love the fragrance of wet soil. It does a lot of things to me at once. It stimulates me. It makes me nostalgic. It intoxicates me. It plays me like an instrument and I get lost in its music. As it brings me a shed of nostalgia to rest in, so does it bring a swarm of dreams, that start hovering around me like bees. But in the next moment, I decide to shoo them away, howsoever tempting they seem to be; because I love the present moment, for it is only this moment that reality stays in. Dreams may or may not be mine, but this moment surely is!

This environment no doubt initiates a chain reaction of pleasant mood in my mind, which keeps going on. And I catalyse it by playing my favorite track , called, I am yours by Jason Mraz. This song is the definition of freshness to me. I am distracted by the intermittent roaring of clouds as they ask me to come out of this fantastic world of beauty which I so don’t want to leave, and my mind, all encouraged by this new pal, tortures me by my favorite lines, by Robert Frost.

“The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.”

The frogs that croak, now sound  like an alarm to me and despite all the pull of this moment, I fold back this present moment like a morning newspaper. Unstolen, and fresh will it remain now,  as I have preserved it  here for forever.

Like a rare meteor among a million stars,
is the sight of those who love knowing no bars.

While you make judgements, and treat them harsh
they still soothe you like a marsh.

Like trampled grass beneath your feet,
they please you even when you mistreat.

Like a sunflower that blooms in sunlight,
they are happy when you burn them bright.

You use them when you need and move on until next time
and they look eagerly for another illusive next time.

Painful it is though a little for them
when they find, love isn’t an alien to you.
they find how you love, and give your time
to those dear to you.
And they can’t help but again
take the hurt as they keep longing for you.

How unlucky are you to dismiss love of theirs
How blind are you to not treasure their being.
How pitiful is your oblivion
as you will never know,
who do you mistake for who!
Look around and find them
they are still waiting for you!

They don’t have a choice
as it is their nature to love
I wish that they become indifferent
unless you realize your treasure trove.
